With workers now taking precautions against the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Tennessee Valley Authority says the repair project at Boone Dam is still on schedule to wrap up in 2022.
“It hasn’t slowed the progress” said TVA spokeswoman Mary Ellen Miller. “It’s just altered the way we communicate onsite because anyone who’s not directly involved with the construction work, meaning the actual drilling and concreting on the dam … is not onsite. All of the other people are now teleworking.”
Public relations, data management, scheduling and even some engineering is now being conducted offsite, which Miller said is all in an effort keep construction workers safe. There are a total of 175 people working onsite, which includes both the day and night shifts. In addition to days and nights during the week, the TVA also has employees working most Saturdays.
