World’s First Double Helix Dilating Diameter Bridge Opens in Sydney

Development of a new district in Sydney, Australia has reached a major milestone with opening of a key foot and cycle bridge to link the area to a local station.

The striking helical Lachlan’s Line bridge over the M2 motorway and Delhi Road to connect the Riverside Corporate Park with North Ryde Metro Station was officially opened yesterday but without ceremony due to Covid-19 restrictions.According to Arup project director Andrew Johnson, who led the design work, the 178m long structure is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.
