An experimental plant producing low-carbon cement has begun operations at Universidad Central Marta Abreu de Las Villas in Spain.

The plant is the product of a collaboration between the university’s Swiss-funded Habitat project and the Industrias Putin de Instalaciones Automaticas para Ceramica.LC3 cement has been developed by CIDEM in conjunction with the Federal Polytechnic University of Lausanne, Switzerland, since 2009 and has been used experimentally in a wide range of construction applications.
