PATCHOGUE, NY — Patchogue is now home to a new 3D printed home — and it took fewer than 12 hours to complete. The 500-square-foot residence, 315 W. Main St., was built by S-Squared 3D Printers and its so-called “Autonomous Robotic Construction System.”
The patent-pending technology allows multiple machines to work together to build a home with little or no human assistance, the company said in a news release.”The 3D building process ushers in a new level of affordability for homeowners and businesses like never before,” the company said. “In addition, this new technology can reduce construction costs by as much as 70 percent.
Construction costs go way down using the 3D printing technology and the speed with which it takes to build is much quicker, taking hours instead of weeks, months or years. The operation is also eco-friendly, as the technology uses about the same amount of electricity as a standard hair dryer.
The Main Street home is the largest 3D-printed concrete-built home in the world, the company said in a news release. Patch wasn’t able to independently verify the claim, but the company said it contacted the builders of the other largest 3D concrete printed homes to verify.
